Join our team as a Quality Assurance Specialist to lead testing for the modernization of Ontario’s mission-critical Air Quality systems. Description

To respond to the priorities of the Government of Ontario through the passage of the Bill 5, Protect Ontario by Unleashing Our Economy Act 2025, the resource may be partially assigned to Bill 5 related projects or initiatives on an as needed basis.

 

Project Description - 'Air Quality Suite Evergreening' - The goal of the Air Quality suite evergreening initiative is to upgrade the full technical stack for Ontario's Mission Critical Air Quality I&IT solutions. The current suite is built with Oracle database, APEX/ORDS, and Red Hat Linux OS software which are all at end-of-life support with the manufacturer. To stay secure and compliant with Ontario's Digital and Data Strategy, the systems software and hardware technical components must be upgraded - A process known as Evergreening . Cloud hosting is targeted as part of this evergreening.

 

This Statement of Work (SOW) shall expire on 31st March 2026. Clients may exercise its option(s) to extend the SOW beyond 31st March 2026. Such extension(s) will be allowable only if the Master Service Agreement is extended beyond April 1 2026 and be upon the same terms, conditions and covenants contained in the SOW

Experience and Skill Set Requirements

Responsibilities:

 The Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for the development of test plans, test scripts and test cases and executing these against the various components. The tester will work with project team members in the analysis, design, development, implementation and ongoing support of the required systems. This role will coordinate with application sme's during UAT, manage and report defects etc. Building an understanding of the legacy systems will be key as this role will be responsible for regression testing to ensure quality post build.

 

Evaluation Criteria

 

Quality Assurance Skills: 50%

·      Experience in planning, organizing and implementing testing efforts at the specified experience level

·      Experience executing regression, functional tests, non-functional tests and systems level integration tests

·      Experience supporting user acceptance testing and participating in UAT activities

·      Experience with quality assurance principles, practices, tools and structured methodologies

·      Experience creating testing strategy documentation, test plans, test cases and test data for various types and phases of testing, including technical and business functional validation

 

Desirable Technical Skills and Knowledge of Standards: 25%

·      Knowledge of structured methodologies for the development, design, implementation and maintenance of applications

·      Knowledge and experience in the use of automated testing tools

·      Knowledge and experience in at least one programming language

·      Experience coding automated test scripts to produce sets of automated test cases

  • Experience and knowledge tracking defects through Kanban/DevOps process
  •  Knowledge and understanding of Information Management principles, concepts, policies and practices.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) and related regulations and standards 

Communications and Analytical Skills: 25%

·      Knowledge and experience in all phases of the Systems Development Life Cycle

·      Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills; organizational, creativity and perseverance skills; verbal and written communication skills; and interpersonal skills

·      A team player with a track record for meeting deadlines
